Located at 26 N. Macdonald, The POST is a treasured historic venue in the heart of downtown Mesa. Originally built in 1936 and expanded in 1960, this landmark first served as Mesa’s central post office until around 1980, when demands required a larger building and the post office moved to its current home at the northeast corner of Center and 1st Streets.

For over two decades, the building was repurposed as a federal facility, hosting the US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), and other federal agencies. In 2002, it was transferred to the City of Mesa, which used it for museum storage while planning a full restoration.

In 2018, thanks to a $7.4 million bond approved by Mesa voters, The POST was transformed into a vibrant community event space. Today, the first floor offers a flexible, open area perfect for gatherings, while the south side features a second floor and mezzanine with office and conference room spaces. Throughout the space, signs highlight key historical features, from the iconic flagpole to vintage architectural details like the wood wall and a hidden window, providing glimpses into The POST’s rich past.
